Luis Rioja: “We have to go to Vallecas to win and take another step towards our goal”
The Valencia CF attacker spoke to the media in a press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna
Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Rubén Baraja which will see him continue as first-team coach for the next two seasons, until 30th of June 2025.
Rubén Baraja turned around a very complicated situation, as when he took over on the 14th of February, the team were second from bottom in the table. But his great leadership skills and personality were key to changing the dynamic of the players who, at that time, were blocked by the poor results.
Thanks to his hard work and dedication, Valencia CF collected 22 points in 17 games (6 wins and 4 draws) and the team were able to get out of the danger zone of the table.
'Pipo' is a club legend and one of the most successful players in the history of Valencia CF, with whom he won two LaLiga titles, a UEFA Cup, a European Super Cup and a Copa del Rey. His perfect knowledge of the club and the fans, his awareness of what it means to wear a Valencia CF shirt and the pride and great respect that comes with defending it are qualities that he has passed on to the players over the last few months.
Before taking over at Valencia CF, Rubén Baraja coached Real Zaragoza, CD Tenerife, Real Sporting Gijón, Rayo Vallecano and Elche CF and, in his early days, he coached the Juvenil A División de Honor team of the Valencia CF Academy.
